subject: Best DB access method?

Hello,

I have an application dating back to 1996. I used DAO 2.5 for access to a
Jet db. Over time I migrated to DAO 2.5/3.51 and to VB6. I use the Wise
InstallBuilder 8 to create the install file.

Lately, people with Windows XP are not able to access the db. I assume
there are files missing. I could probably figure out what's missing and
include them in the install, but I think it's time to upgrade the db access.

I'm no longer actively involved in mainstream programming except for this
one application, so I'm not up to date on the latest techniques.

Is DAO still viable? Should I migrate to DAO 3.6, or is there a better
access method these days. Since I have to do the work, I'd like to do it
the best way possible, but I'd also rather not do a major re-write of the
application.

Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Tom
