Probably the - is most flexible. I don't know if DVD-RAM is getting
very popular. Most common units available will be DVD +-R/RW CD-R/RW
combos and now dual layer is getting reasonable which doubles the data
stored on a DVD. Here are some to browse:

I was going to look on the geeks.com site but it seems to have a
problem at the moment.
I have a NEC I'm using right now, a couple Optorite brand I got a deal
on a while back and I have used a LiteOn before.
These are the statements I've added for the above in the RSJ cddrv.inf
file over time:
NEC " DVD_RW ND-1300A " 1.05 "_NEC DVD_RW ND-1300A " N/A
cdatapi ATAPI CUESHEET _NEC____DVD_RW_ND-1300A_1
LITE-ON "DVDRW SOHW-812S " US0Q "LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-812S
" N/A cdatapi
ATAPI CUESHEET LITE-ON_DVDRW_SOHW-812S_U
OPTORITE "DVD RW DD0201 " 2.17 "OPTORITEDVD RW DD0201 "
N/A cdatapi
ATAPI CUESHEET OPTORITEDVD_RW_DD0201___2
The LiteOn I destroyed with a cleaner disk, otherwise they all worked
fine.
