Tom, the program I and Jean use, Desterm 2.00 (for the C128), alllows
9600 bps through the user port with a normal RS-232 interface but we use
a cartridge-port interface, Turbo232, an upgrade to, and fully
compatible with, Swiftlink. Swiftlink allows only a 38400 bps DTE rate
but Turbo232 can go up to 115200 bps. Since Desterm 2.00 was written
long before the Turbo232, we can only use 38400 bps. Other terminals
written for the Turbo232 allow 57600 and 115200 bps. Since I have a
Sportster 14400 I can only use them at 57600 bps but if I had a
Sportster 33600 I could use them at 115200 bps. Desterm 3.00 is coming
out soon with support for the Turbo232 at 115200 bps. Look, Mom, no
16550 nor 16450, just a 6551! :-)
