reasons for saying so. Why do you believe it's a lie?

   That's not an answer. You made a definite claim to know about how
aliens travelled. You are now expected to explain where this knowledge
came from.

   Heck, I believe aliens are probably real. I just don't think any of
them are visiting us at the moment.

   You're asking my opinion?
   I think that a lot of people who need something to believe in are
deciding to believe in visiting aliens.
   I think that the people who created _The X-Files_ and _Dark Skies_
thought that, whether or not it's true, it would make a good story.
   I read a lot of science fiction. I'd like to try and write some one
day. But that doesn't mean I believe in warp drives, or time travel,
or Babel fish. They're just useful things to pretend to make the story
more interesting.

   It could have been just a publicity gimmick.

   _Doctor Who_ had brilliant ratings when it was axed.
   So did _Star Trek_.
   _Seinfeld_ isn't coming back for another season, and it's drawing
some of the best ratings in television history.
   There are other reasons than ratings and sinister government
interference for a show to be axed.
   Maybe one of the executives just took a dislike to it.
   Maybe someone decided it didn't fit the image of the network.
   Maybe somebody thought it was too expensive.
   Or maybe the writers just ran out of stories to tell.
