II> Especially if you have plastic water pipe! If you have metal, (copper
II> or galvanized) pipe it isn't so bad, but even so, you should ALSO, (not
II> instead of), use at least one long ground rod. This should be bonded
If it's like the well we have, just make sure the metal pipe
has a very good connection to the well casing, 6" steel pipe
that goes down 70', with 20' of water in the bottom. How
about 3/8" copper cable, clamped to the metal pipe and the
well casing? Of course the underground run, of the metal
pipe, from house to well, should transfer part of the charge
to the ground before it gets to the well casing.
II> to the electrical neutral, the cold (!) water pipe, the antenna mast,
II> (unless it has it's own ground rod(s), and anything else that needs
II> grounding.
II> The shield of the co-ax must be grounded, (National Electric Code),
II> and you should also use a lightning arrestor in the coax. (But
II> disconnect and ground it during thunderstorms anyway).
