I have not measured it, but apparently the standby time is afffected if 
I am constantly near a cell, because the phone automatically reduces 
power if it senses a higher signal strength from the cell.
I think the standby time on my phone at an average is around 30 hours or 
more. Some of the recently released GSM phones have standbys of over 80 
urs.
