I've been perfectly happy with XP with similar usage to yours, it has never crashed and the very first Windows update back in Sep. 2001 didn't require a re-boot which amazed me at the time (I think every one since has asked to reboot, so it was short-lived awe ). I never even defragged the drive until about 18 months in and noticed no difference in performance after I did. I can't recall the details at this point, but I did have to reboot previous versions of Windows fairly often - probably resource usage in 3.x and I don't recall in W95/98, but it wouldn't be uncommon to reboot about once a day (in addition to the start of day boot) as I recall. --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
