No argument from me on that, but unfortunately that's just what we have
with desktop PC's. Of course it is a trade off mind you, and a good one at
that for all the good stuff we get out of them, but to pretend that we're
going to get 5 nines uptime out of them like Gene suggests is not reality.

Just experience with the language and the OS -- I can't think of any reason
to agree with you.
The examples of memory leaks were just for Gene since he thought they
aren't a problem any more.
The comment about C/C++ not being conducive to stopping all memory leaks is
from my own experience. There are so many way to have memory leaks, and I
know it's not exclusive to C/C++. C/C++ is already way down the list of my
preferred languages for a lot of reasons anyway and I only use it when I'm
modifying other's source, never on new development.
