Likely the "I:" referred only to the partition. But if you forgot or 
didn't succeed in creating a volume, there is no reason why the "I:" 
should be back. Remember, the data about volumes and linked drive 
letters is written to the MBR of the disk itself.

You better start it all over again:

- shutdown
- put the disk in the drive
- reboot
- delete partition --> save and exit
- run lvm again
- create new partition
- create new volume + drive letter
- save and exit.
