The worst problem with 'impoundment' is when the vehicle is stolen, and the
owner has to pay.
Happened to me. My car was stolen, used in a homicide. I had to pay for the
privlegde of having my car impounded while it was 'evidence'. I had no
choice in this. It cost me almost 6,000$ and none of it could be recouped
from the people who stole my car.
I dont deny they had to have the car for the investigation. I do think it
wrong *I* had to foot the bill for it though. Its all well and good to say
'sue them for it' but the kids were underage and the parents were on welfare.
Tried it. 6,000$ it cost me. I'd rather the car was NOT found. It would
have cost me much less.
