Start looking in rural autowreckers.  And keep looking.  I found a dashpad
in a small rural, out of the way wrecking yard.   Mine developed its crack
directly infront of the driver.
To help save your dashpad, get a towel to lay on the dash when you park it
outside. It may look tacky from the outside to the uninitiated, but it
works.

Thats what we have windows for!  Does yours have disc brakes? If not, when
your hunting for that dashpad, consider looking for the disc brake parts as
well (Spindles (which have the backing plates bolted to them, steering
knuckle, and caliper bracket) calipers, master cylinder, proportioning
valve, proportioning valve braket, etc.)  Its a well worth investment if
you still have drum brakes in front.
Mine as well has no a/c... No power steering, and no power brakes. It
does have a v-8. =)

The SS was just a trim option.  Big SS stickers on the side and trunk lid,
SS emblem in the grille, and maybe a big wide (ugly) body side moulding
sticker. 
Apparently, 35,542 SS models where made.  Total vehicle production, 369,511.
