Transcript: >http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4179618/ > The headlines were not even slightly misleading. Bush's rationale for war was the claim of WMD being possessed by Iraq. Kay in his report not only denies there are any such weapons to be found,, but states bluntly that they were not there before the war either. Kay hedged somewhat by saying in effect that going to war may have been justified anyway, but that doesn't detract from the glaring fact that Bush's rationale, the WMD, was a mixture of lies and incompetence. Nor did Bush conduct himself well in the interview. He repeated the embarrassing arguments that the WMD were there and that they must or might have been removed by Saddam just before the invasion, shipped to Syria perhaps. Who in his right mind could listen to that fantasy and not feel nauseated? Bush would have been better off just admitting that they had got it all wrong about WMD, but nonetheless the war was justified for humanitarian reasons. But no, in his usual stupidity, he repeats the fantasies about the WMD, knowing how his original claims have damaged his credibility. But he won't resurrect that credibility by repeating old party-line damage control defenses that are already lacking in credibility. He should have stayed home. --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
