recognizes fred cohen as the creator of the virus concept and leonard
adleman as the coiner of the term "computer virus"... stephen levy wrote
an interesting book on a-life and i know he considers viruses a-life,
but i also suspect that his definition of "computer virus" and the
definition used by the computer virus experts are considerably
different... people who haven't willingly submerged themselves in the
virus field usually don't have much of a clue as to what a virus really
is... it's obscure, it isn't clear just from the name, and the
definition has been fairly mangled by the media so that the general
public usually has the wrong idea...
