LA> MD> This comapny also wants to charge for
LA> MD> everything. It costs at least $35 for a tech to come
LA> MD> out. If they find a problem and it is theirs, then they
LA> MD> fix it for free, but if it is found in a section other
LA> MD> than theirs, they add another $35 for finding it. I
LA> MD> don't have a vault of money to use to get this company
LA> MD> to find their problems. :(
LA> Man, talk about hiway robbery!!! At Pacific Bell, if the
LA>customer is not on the inside wire plan ($.60 a month) then we will
LA>charge $45 + $16 (15 min increments) to repair inside wire problems,
LA>but once you fix it, it is warranteed for 90 days...if you have a
LA>problem again in that time it is fixed for free. At this point about
LA>all I can suggest is asking for a supervisor when you make the call
LA>to repair, not just talking to the clerk, and ask if there is a
LA>number you can reach them back at other than the regular repair
LA>number. If they won't give you a number ask for their supervisor
until
LA>they will give you a number...remember, the squeaky wheel gets the
LA>grease, if you make enough noise, maybe even threatening to go to the
LA>body that Regulates the phone company (PUC?) they just might fix
LA>something...and bring up the privacy issue...tell then you will go to
LA>the FCC about that one...
I understand its often not the case, but it always surprises
me as to how many able bodied folks will pay money to connect
two to four color-coded wires together to matching color-coded
(or at least clearly lettered with the first letter of the
coded color) terminals. With an 8.00 "bell hangers" bit and
a spool of wire and a stapler it shouldn't take more than an
hour to wire-up most homes (less if one believes in crimp
connectors).
