On Martian Day, 25 May 96 06:27:02, Matthew was caught blabbering the
following:
FR> I prefer the "Good Morning" salutation to the the "Dear Sir or
 FR> Madam"

MJ> It also only applies for the first half of the day! :)
RIGHT ! Who really knows when the mailman (uhhh...."mailperson") is
gonna get around to dropping-off the mail - wherever ! Up here in
Canada, we seem to always be treated to regular mail strikes, and so
it's an "Act of God" when the mail does come ! Mind, I could do with
less "junk" and "fan" mail - you know, the utilities', medical and such
innane trivial mailings from "Trek" convention organizers, record
companies and book clubs !
Besides, here I've had mail delivered early mornings, mid-mornings,
early afternoon, mid-afternoons and early evenings. It's a real laugh
having to read mail that opens with "Good Morning" when, in fact, I'm
reading it just before I get ready to fall into Dreamland. Some of it
is actually _quite_ boring (except when the "fan mail" comes from the
Tax Collector. Then I don't ever get a full night's sleep......) as
to put me to sleep.
I'm waiting for the day when the Postie starts delivering at 3:00
AM...and that's another thing: it's _never_ the same Postie that comes
around. Seems like they rotate every three weeks or so... My only
salvation lies in the fact that I don't have to go out to one of those
"Super Boxes" to fetch my mail: it's still hand-delivered to my door.
