Hi Barry,
(Monday April 13 1998 15:06) Barry Block to Ted Menks about: Question #1!
BB>>> It would be cool if 4dos tried to load a btm before a bat.
TM>> It does! I made two batches in the following order:
TM>> :: TROEP.BAT echo this is the BAT. :: end
TM>> :: TROEP.BTM echo this is the BTM. :: end
TM>> Then when I typed TROEP, the answer was: this is the BTM.
BB> Nice, I mean cool. So...will it always do this (path aside)?
BB> Is it documented?
Please hold, BRB... Yup, found it...
On the command-line press *twice*, then select Reference / Executable
Files and File Searches... The first two paragraphs will answer your
estion.
If we read on, it will explain that 4Dos searches each directory in the path
for executable files in the order: COM, EXE, BTM, BAT, and then the
executable extensions. If nothing is found in the first dir, 4Dos moves on to
the next, and tries all extensions again, in the aforementioned order.
BB> I just ran some tests. I got the same result as you, Ted.
BB> cool.
I'm glad to have been of Help, Barry. It seems to be a documented bug
