On the CD player try View on the  menu bar and select or unselect
"digital transfer" and see if that gets you sound. Also the CD volume
might be set to 0 some how. Check the docs and see how you can increase
it's volume other than the volume object on the player. If you don't
have it already, get and try LBMixer. Find it on Hobbes. You could also
get a stereo 1/8" plug patch cord and go from the headphone jack on the
CDROM to the line in on the back of the card and see if you get sound
there.(I know you would not want to keep it that way)
