G'day Frank,
Replying to a message of Frank Malcolm to Paul Edwards on 16/01/97:
PE>> Do we have any examples of successful suing against someone you don't
PE>> even know? BFN. Paul.
FM> There was that uni bloke in WA who recently successfully sued someone
FM> who defamed him on the Internet. Don't know if he knew him though,
FM> probably did.
I was reading about that case and found out that under the laws that
applied to that case (WA I think), the truth was no defense.
To not defame someone, it must be shown to be in the public interest. Truth
is irrelevant!.
