One person's trash can be another's treasure, eh ;-)
I know what you mean by the digging involved in getting rid of such
tenacious and prolific plants because I spent quite a few long days
digging and screening from my future garden a weed that is called
"quack grass" here. It's an inexorable monster -- if you dig it
under or chop it up it only multiplies.
My herb books confirm what you say, and I am hoping that when I find
my seeds or stock that all of this will be true. I have prepared the
garden sections for these with underground barriers so that they
won't invade anything outside of their designated turf. Hopefully
they will be hardy enough in our Zone 3 climate. But, it won't be
a disaster if they aren't since I intend to use them as herbs.
Do you think that we might arrange a sale of hop seeds from your
sister (if she had both male and female plants together) and your
comfrey seeds or roots? I am willing to pay a reasonable price plus
shipping. If you are willing to try this, we can talk further
by email. My addresses are:
