subject: data overrun?

BL> Are you sure you are recognising my MNP request? If you don't
BL> respond, the Sportster runs without error control.

 PE> It's actually a V42 connection I want to get.

The Sportster does that at 2400. Hang on... I'll call the PCUG.

... [later]

Yair ARQ/LAPM/V42bis... at 2400 set up just the way I called you.
Their Netcomm M34Fs seem to speak USR-Sportster-ese pretty fluently.
What's wrong with yours?

BL> Life is too short to tie up my modem for an hour while my
BL> zmodem sorts out the crap you keep sending.

PE> You sit around watching the file transfer fail?! I envisoged
PE> you setting it off and going away for an hour.

You'll never make a good engineer, will you? I was looking for a
pattern in the failures.

BL> if you want to actually try something instead of theorising.

PE> I've already told you what I want, which is to find out what
PE> happens with EC at low speeds, and at what speed I start having
 PE> problems.

I think you may know already. Why won't your Netcomm permit a V42
session at 2400 when the PCUG does it no worries at all? And the other
question is why so many errors anyway... with you as the originator.

Regards,
Bob
