I just find it ridiculous to go there at all, we all know that the Vietnam
war was extremely unpopular at the time and to somehow try to pigeonhole
decisions made in that entirely different era into the context of the world
30+ years later is not worthwhile exercise. Whether someone fought in that
war or not may invoke a variety of feelings among veterans and protestors
alike, but has zero bearing on their ability to command the armed forces
today.

I do find it hypocritical though for John "Flip-Flop" Kerry to
start playing up his war record at that time as a young man, in some
attempt to bolster his standing in an election now, when he vehemently
opposed it at the time, voted against the Gulf War and claims he only voted
for the Iraq war because he didn't think Bush would execute it, then didn't
want to fund the troops after the fact. He's not a man of convictions by
any means and in my book that disqualifies him for my vote.
