Even before the war started I said the intel people would catch the flak as they are "anonymous" & duty bound not to talk whereas no such restrictions on their pol masters. Intel is mostly about the balance of probabilities. If you have a 80-20 situation then you can believe the 20% if you really want to. Do you really think Bush,Cheney & Rumsfeld approached the intel with an "open mind"? I reckon point 1 in meeting 1 twixt pols & spooks was entitled "Preserving credible deniability".
