Hi Steve
Thanks for the clarification (actually I was trying just about anything,
having first tried "tcpstart" and "inetd" etc) and I
think I may have found the cause though it makes little sense to me. I
have some evidence that it may be the line "ainuptimer" since
raising it from default of "1" keeps the network up longer.
Furthermore if I set PMPing to ping my router every minute, the network
stays up for hours... actually has been up all day since I set it. It is my
understanding that "ain" functions have to do with lan printing
but I suppose it can affect other lan functions as well. Comments?

Also thanks for the rexx script. I am in the process of altering it to
suit my needs because if I understand correctly yours is setup to gather
the fix files from cdrom, right? I'm need to work out my proper paths and
hope to get some time to do it tonight and complete the update. However
now that I have my network staying up it may be worthwhile to do an RSU
assuming they are still available to those w/o paid passport. Again, I
have to wait till later tonight having just the time right now to write a
few emails.

Thanks
Jimmy
