(As before this is the sequence of events that has been developed by
the CUFOS team, unless otherwise noted. MS.)
Saturday, July 5, 1947.
Archeologists from Texas Tech, including W. Curry Holden, working
sites near Roswell stumble upon the impact site where the object has
crashed. One of them heads to the closest phone to inform Sherrif
George Wilcox that there has been an aircraft accident of some kind.
Wilcox calls the Roswell Fire dept. One truck, driven by Dan Dwyer
will respond. The site is 35 miles north of town. Along with a police,
vehicle, the fire truck makes its run along Pine Lodge Road. Along with
Holden's people these will be the 1st civilians to arrive at the site.
5:30 AM
The military, knowing the approximate location of the crash, arrive
with a preselected team for the recovery and discover the civilians at
the site.
(Randle & Schmitt, 1994 p161.)
At the Proctor ranch, Brazel inspects the pastures on the ranch.
Along with "Dee" Proctor, he discovers a large debris field. Scattered
on the slopes & arround are metal, plasticlike beams, pieces of
lightweight material, strange foil, and stringlike material. The debris
is thick enough that the sheep refuse to cross the field. (Randle &
Scmitt, 1994. p. 161) Also, a large trench has been gouged into the
ground by one of the larger pieces of debris. (Randle & Scmitt, 1991)
*****
On the impact site, Thomas & his crew move out. A total of 5 bodies
are found at the site. Origionally, they covered by sheets, but than
placed into lead-lined body bags. Only those with the highest clearance
are allowed close to the center of the impact site. MPs are posted
guard facing out, away from the wreckage, to keep the curious away.
