a RW> positive endorsement of 'A Letter of Mary' here in the echo.
SB> I had read the "teaser" for this at the end of "Monstrous" and it

I'll probably read 'Mary' when I come across it, as King is a good writer
and has convincing plots. But I won't be eagerly searching it out.
I like her Kate Martinelli series better.
SB> I'll have to admit that I'll read Grisham for pure popcorn.
I started one a few years back and found it so hokey and the plot so poorly
thoughtout that I literally ended up throwing it into the corner. I can't
ven
remember the title, it was the one about the two boys who witness a suicide
and one becomes catatonic (SP?) and the other stumbles onto a ball-busting
feminist lawyer. That's about where I quit reading. And my dislike is not due
to the anti-male tone, but to the incredible leaps of logic and coincidence
that are rife in Grisham's writing. It amazes me that critics, the media,
and Hollywood all fawn on Grisham's pap, when other writers like Scott Turow
have written much, much better tales in the same genre.
Enough of the soapbox - read on!
