Depends on how you use the phone, take my Uniden 5500 handheld, hold it like 
a knife and strike down to someones face or head and they'll be knocked out 
like a light. My Diamondtel 92 weighs about 8 pounds with the battery, is 
solid metal, and would put someones lights out with ease, I sure as heck 
wouldn't want to get hit with it.
I'm serious, some phones could double as effective weapons in a pinch, as 
could a set of car keys.

You're right, avoid the situation or use the phone to make a call after
