"BAE reported a 21 per cent hike in revenues to œ8.21 billion as its
US operations benefited from increased spending on military and defence.

The purchase of UDI, which makes the Bradley fighting vehicles used in
Iraq, made BAE the Pentagon's seventh biggest contractor.

BAE also makes combat equipment for US fighter jets and intelligence
equipment including computer systems for the Department of Homeland
Security and the FBI.

It has recommended to shareholders the sale of its 20 per cent stake in
Airbus for œ1.9 billion even though the figure was well below initial hopes
that it could be worth between œ3 billion and œ4 billion. "
