Hello
Yes I think I mentioned that it was involved in network printing services
and remarked as to the oddity that it might pull the entire network down
with the timer. Frankly I simply installed everyting I saw that had to do
with network printing figuring on sorting out and removing whatever was not
needed later. Oddly enough searching through either "all
sections" or "all libraries" in help/information brings up
no hits for "aintimer" or any variation I've tried. By your
surprise along wiyh the likelihood that this timer can bring down the whole
network I am beginning to get the idea that this is for dedicated network
printing, as in for a server that does essentially nothing else. Is that
possible? or the cause for your surprise?

At this point I've only just begun ingetting the system updated from a
fresh install. I think it is atestament to some incredibly solid coding
and considerable foresight that this install works rather well on very new
architecture, AMD 64, with so far only Dani's IDE driver added to the
install diskettes and the original, un-updated install CD. The only thing
added since base install, hardware-wise, is basic USB and USB mouse
support. Had I installed it's contemporary (and so-called
"superior" LOL), Win98 v1 I'm quite certain I would have
sufferred about 5000 reboots and multiple driver updates just to be able to
settle into a stable desktop. Now that my internet connection is staying
up and Steve has sent a sweet Rexx script for CSF I am looking forward to
seeing just how far I can take it. It's probably a little silly since I
believe it will require a lot of linux-ification and I already have a great
linux but I just can't get over my respect for OS/2, at least just yet.
