TW>Your opinion/fact:?
Tom,
I just had some birds sexed that were supposed to be proven
breeders.SURE...
Anyway, the hens were fine. They had egg follicles and everything. But
the males had scar tissue on the testicles. This was only determined
because we had the birds re-sexed surgically. If the doc hadn't looked
inside we might never have known. He said one bird might've had babies
before and possibly might still, but the other was a no-go. No way his
cahones were gonna work.
Then I had a Sun male re-sexed. The pair are 4 or 5 y/o now and have
been laying eggs for a couple yrs. All infertile. But Mr. Sun looked ok
on the inside.I asked the vet about culturing him and she said she felt
if they looked that good and were producing eggs it was something else.
She said to check out the perches, husbandry practices, check for mice
that might frighten them, anything along these lines.
Hope this helps,
Barbara
