Thanks for the link, and the offer; I currently do have 'net
access.

Unless things have changed quite recently, Juno and Netzero no longer
offer free access in Manitoba. I'll double-check their sites, just in
case, though. "dotNow" does sound hopeful.

I've used FreeWeb (sp?), Netzero, 3Web, and the now-defunct Blue Sky
Freenet, in the past. The first two were pretty good, 3Web was 'okay',
and Blue Sky was 'erratic'. I was happy to be able to login to all. 
 
I also used Juno's (version 5) free e-mail for a while, but never was
able to get the browser working.
