Oh, I'm sure it wasn't unsafe at any speed, but it never piqued any
interest with me and my friends at the time, we were into the usual
Mustangs, Corvettes, GTOs, 'cudas, BMWs, Porsches etc.

Some people carried the muscle car thing to the extreme, I remember one guy
had the Dodge Daytona (that came stock with that huge rear spoiler rising a
couple feet off the trunk deck) that he then jacked way up in the back and
added huge tires to - essentially the headlights were aiming down into the
pavement. All he ever did was drive around the A&P parking lot all
evening at 5 MPH gunning the engine every 20 seconds or so, then drive
carefully past the local cops at the end of the night to get home without a
ticket.
