JS> It was a ground launched. "The Snark air breathing
JS> intercontinental missile had a range of 6,250 miles and a maximum speed
JS> of 650 mph. It carried a neuclear warhead and was controlled by an
JS> internal celestial guidance system. The first operational Snark unit
JS> was activated by SAC in 1958, but Snarks were with drawn from service
JS> in the early 1960s as ballistic missiles became available."
What were the Soviets fielding at the time that SAC felt was the
Snark's primary opposition? I always thought the biggest thing they had in
that
department was the Silkworm or the Styx, but the Snar sounds bigger than
hose
two even.
