It would appear so, luckily for the world and the Iraqi people, he felt a
need for deception in that regard.

It would have been irresponsible for Bush to risk leaving that doubt
hanging in the air in a post-9/11 world. We may not be out of the woods
yet, though it doesn't appear that they were spirited away to other
nations/terrorist groups, that possibility is still there. It is for that
reason, not to save Bush's bacon that I don't agree needs a WMD find to be
saved, that I wish we'd found stockpiles (and hope that we still do) so
we'd know where they are.
