Dan: If you tried to anchor in mid-ocean you might even break the ocean
crossing speed record if a whale or other large fish/mammal got hold of
your anchor! ;->
  I would rather stay away from the BIG pond in the smaller boats.
  By the way my longest anchor line is a little over 50 feet. Anyways
according to my navigation maps I haven't been over water much deeper
than 70 feet. So far I have only anchored once, and I forgot to set my
danforth anchor so the boat actually drifted close to the shore for me.
