At times there are others in the immediate area.  But the nature of the
job makes it mostly a lone position.

The State can't, or won't, run us two to a vehicle at night.  So night
contacts that go bad can get real out of control.  So we've learned to
us the 'ol verbal skills to keep the situation somewhat under control
while backup heads our way.  I've waited as long as 45 minutes to an
hour for someone to show up, so we're pretty much on our own.
