subject: Did I get them all?

Hi, Keith.

KR> KR> FM> [later] Well I seem to have got all of AvTech anyway,
from dates
KR> in
KR> KR> FM> both weeks of my absence - 670 messages, and *not* in
KR> chronological
KR> KR> FM> order!

KR> KR> PE> I don't think the messages would ever be in
chronological order if
KR> you
KR> KR> just
KR> KR> PE> unzip them.

KR> KR> FM> No, neither do I. It was just interesting to read, in
many cases,
KR> KR> FM> replies before I read the original.

KR> KR> why not use paul markham's pktsort, i've got it in the mailer.bat, it
KR> sorts
KR> KR> all the echoes by thread, date, and sender. it is an excelent program,
KR> does
KR> KR> all of what it advertises quickly and without fuss.

KR> FM> Does it work on QWKs? Or PKTs? Can you put it on TML? The only one
KR> FM> which
KR> FM> seems to be there is SRTPK104.ZIP, 275k, which I'll d/l on the next
KR> FM> call.

KR> i think that that is the one, it will take whatever packets are in the
KR> directory that you specify, extract the messages, sort them according to
KR> your specificaton, and rebuild them into one new packet (having deleted the
KR> input packets).

Yes, it appears to be it. But I can't use it unless I want to sort by
subject; you have to change the source and recompile and that means
having a C++ compiler and I don't think I have one of those.

I guess I'll just wait until I get around to doing my own message
processor and include a user-configurable sort capability. It's not
usually a problem anyway, only in cases like that when I've been away
for a while. And not really a problem then anyway.

Regards, fIM.
