IM> When did you switch to surface vessels?
Well, it isn't so much a switch to surface vessels as it is a return to
surface vessels.
I love subs because they are incredibly NEAT! They're real attention getters
and crowd pleasers. During the summer, the church that borders on our pond
was having and outdoor Sunday school class. I sailed the sub past a group of
about thirty children and caused a virtual riot when they caught sight of the
DALLAS.
However, subs have enormous drawbacks. Cost is the first obvious problem. The
second problem is that subs are very difficult to SCRATCHBUILD because wood
is such an unsuitable material for immersion. A third problem is the absolute
unnerving terror of watching a $2000.00 investment slide below the water. A
fourth problem is the logistics of moving and supporting such a project.
So , as much as I do love them, I try to limit my sub project to one per
decade.
