Ya... I've heard it both ways.  Of course, for about $50, Torres (I think) 
will be happy to sell you a black box (potted) with the correct plug spacing 
to plug into the jacks.  It probably even has 'in' and 'out' marked on it.

I always think of Canada and Mexico when someone mentions Napoleanic law, but 
I guess it would apply to Louisisna as well.
