Richard Town wrote the following to Craig Ford, and I quote (in part):

RT-> ver.516 seems to be alright.
RT> And ver.502 (Zoom 2812) works. Just not as well as .516 or 1.02
V.502 works at V.34, not at K56Flex.
CF> K56Flex was actually Rockwell's K56Plus. The Lucent chipset is the

RT> In what way was .502, .516, or 1.02 series _not_ K56flex?
The ROM mask of v.502 was cast before Lucent even got into the mix. That is
the code that Rockwell supplied to vendors using both fixed and Flash ROM
architechtures. That was all they had to offer.
RT> Ascend and Cisco servers work alright with all versions.
RT> And are backwards compatible with K56Plus AFAIK
RT> (there were no released K56Plus models from Zoom btw)
Ascend was the first to market with any K56???? server, and what they were
using was K56Plus. That is the _only_ server code that Rockwell had to offer.

RT> The only serious modem maker AFAIK was Supra with their Express 56e

RT> know of an update swap program for them - yet
The Hayes swap program is in effect now.
