Hi Steven, MvdV>> It is being promoted by those that believe GUI to be an asset. I MvdV>> am not one of them as I have mixed feelings about GUI's. That's MvdV>> what I liked about OS/2. It could be run in text mode. Have the MvdV>> benefits of full 32 bit processing without the overhead of the MvdV>> graphic shell. ;-) SH> But you can run a "DOS box" in Windows as easily. A dos box in Windows is just that: a DOS box. It is just the opposite of OS/2 in text mode. Contrary to the latter is has the drawbacks of both Windows and DOS. A DOS box in Windows is subject to all the limitations of DOS. 640K shouldd be enough for everybody and such. In addition to that it is slowed down by the Windows graphic shell. OS/2 in text mode however combines the speed of a machine not hampered by the overhead of a graphic shell with the freedom from constraints imposed by DOS. Note that there is a difference between OS/2 in text mode and a text box under OS/2 in graphic mode. MvdV>> Neither do I, but I think too much graphics distract MvdV>> rather than add to content. SH> We haven't seen very much yet. Not for Fido, no.
