WC> Sulfuric acid creeps and putting the battery on concrete a common WC> enough mistake causes discharge. RJT> I don't believe that, it's "urban legend" or somesuch. There was a guy that posted in a FIDO echo about submarines and having to circulate the electrolyte to prevent the problem. Seems the oceans sink a great deal of heat, and the problem, ABIR, is with a temperature differential within the electrolyte causing the discharge. The Navy "fix" was to keep the electrolyte circulating with a pump. We were told by a gel cell battery company to put styrofoam or cardboard under our fire alarm batteries to prolong their life. It works. TTYL.
