subject: data overrun?

PE> 1. You didn't connect with EC, I already have the results of
PE> you connecting without EC.

BL> I did not disable EC, and the book says it works on 1200 and above.
BL> What more can I do?

Not a great deal. Try a higher speed is all I can think of.

BL> Are you sure you are recognising my MNP request? If you don't
BL> respond, the Sportster runs without error control.

It's actually a V42 connection I want to get.

PE> 2. The file transfer was aborted very early in the piece.

BL> It was failing quite nicely on the mail files. Doesn't your log work
BL> on mail files. If not, give me a shorter file than MSGAPI... something
BL> around 30K. Life is too short to tie up my modem for an hour while my
BL> zmodem sorts out the crap you keep sending.

You sit around watching the file transfer fail?! I envisoged you setting
it off and going away for an hour.

BL> It could still be CTS/RTS at your end. It may be that this
BL> never gets asked to work at high speed, but at 2400 everything
BL> blocks up and CTS/RTS is used every 6K (or whatever it was....
BL> I forget) does not work, and then zmodem kicks in and asks to
BL> resend.

PE> It has to get worked at high speed, because 57600 is miles
PE> faster than 28800.

And then I'm only transferring at 14400 to you anyway.

BL> Good theory. What's happening in practice?

It works, thus flow control works.

BL> Have you tried disabling CTS/RTS and using XON/OFF? Let me know

I can't use XON/XOFF or the FTS-6 session won't work.

BL> if you want to actually try something instead of theorising.

I've already told you what I want, which is to find out what happens with
EC at low speeds, and at what speed I start having problems. BFN. Paul.
