Content-type: text/plain The morning was volatile but it settled modestly below the line until mid-afternoon, and then it slid. It was blamed on some economic numbers better than expected, all things considered. Prices closed moderately lower and volume picked-up a bit, to +6% above average. Another 5pts tomorrow would be just the thing! It's not that I'm suggesting the "game" is rigged, there's some grand conspiracy to control the market--let's call it "a convergence of interests". Under it's charge of providing a stable, orderly market, the NYSE is allowed some latitude in its rules and operations. The floor specialists can and do order trades in ways to clear conditional orders, e.g. stops, on their books. And the actions of traders, responding to the progress of the market, can create the "technical indicators" by their cumulative behavior as an "emergent property". In much the same way, it's easy to observe that freeway traffic behavior follows the rules of hydraulic flow in fluids. Price Vola- Momen- Volume Oscil- Summ.
