Hello Susan,
RW> I really like 'Monstrous... ' until the end. I do not like the liberty
SB> Still worth reading, IMHO, but the end was disappointing, I thought -
 SB> closed with a fizzle.
Looks like we had similar feelings about the ending. I haven't gone looking
for the next book in the series 'cause of that. I think I remember reading a
positive endorsement of 'A Letter of Mary' here in the echo. Probably from
he
indubitable Suzze. That gal is always about 3 books ahead it seems! :)
SB> Hope it's been due to your having lots of fun stuff to read or
Unfortunately my absence had more to do with a heavy workload and hectic
travel schedule over the winter. Work will lessen a bit for the summer, but I
have committed myself to a heavy volunteer schedule for Habitat for Humanity
this summer, and that will eat up a lot of my 'spare' time.
SB> that RW> really stands out, except for my current one, 'The Music of
SB> Sounds like an interesting series. Wouldn't have likely picked them
SB> up due to the titles, but may now that I have your rec.
I also passed over them a number of times due to the titles, but I'm glad
hat
I finally took the plunge and read them. Have you ever read any of Dana
Stabenow's Kate Shugak series? I found the two series similar in many
spects,
and both enjoyable. I was able to identify with and recognize a lot of the
tt
itudes and the general atmosphere, from my travels and work in Northern
Alberta and B.C.
I have just started a John Grisham book, 'The Runaway Jury'. I really don't
like Grisham as a writer; talk about not being able to plot an ending, or
concoct a realistic plot... This book was left at my house by a guest, who
said I should give it a try. So far I'm about 50 pages into it and it's OK,
but not a real grabber, and certainly doesn't live up to the gushing praise
f
the flyleaf comments. But then, when did a book ever live up to that kind of
sycophantic verbage.
Type at ya later,
