There are boxes that can filter out the voice and leave the 
instrument.  They work because most records put the voice in the 
center and spread the instruments out from left to right.
Using a couple OP AMps, you can delete anything common to both 
channels ( anything in the center ) and preserve anything more on one 
channel than on the other ( the left and the right )
SHould be OK to do this the other way

It will not completely eliminate the unwanted signal - you will always 
have some feedthrough.
