This seems strange but on my system it happens fairly often. It's a
chaintech with Intel 478 CPU. If I boot up windows it seems to corrupt
bios tables or change them in such a way that my ECS installation will
lose some devices, USB a usual one. Happened again to me yesterday. I
have to shut down to computer off, then actually unplug or remove power
to the power supply so as to make sure nothing stays in memory (I turn
off my UPS for a minute or so). Then it may or may not boot the next
time, the drive lamp on the DVDRW stays on and the computer doesn't
finish post. I remove power again, then it usually will boot the next
time, and ECS finds everything again.

Don't know if this could be a problem for you, if you have run windows,
you might unplug the machine for a bit, then after plugging it back in,
don't boot anything but OS/2 or ECS until you get it working (if
possible).
