Harry, I would suggest that you bring yourself back to reality. We

currently have operating right at this moment, right here in Aust,

two telephone companies, namely Telstra & Optus in regards to mobile

phones, long distant calls and shortly for local calls. Both are said

to be in opposition to each other. What's more you don't need to buy

a new mobile phone if you go from Qld into NSW or Qld into VIC or even

   Qld to WA.

In respect to the situation in America and the same situation

happening here I would very very much doubt it. You could probably

liken the closest of that happening to what we have already have here

now with Telstra/Optus v Vodaphone. I for one couldn't see the

Government allowing it. You have to remember the the US has a

population of some 250 million while Aust pop is around 16-17 million.

I personally object to the proposed sale as it basically represents

another piece of the farm being sold off. Telstra would earn in

profit over 4-5 years what they in-effect would get from the sale.

It really amounts to some very short thinking. Then after it has

been sold what about the job of privatising it. Thank goodness that

   it's not 100% being sold.

   Ciao for now, Sandy F.
