Presently I do not use a sound card, but I have installed many for my
computer dealer.  A year or so back he was using cards with that ESS1371
chip, and _may_ still be, I just haven't watched the numbers very closely.

All of the cards we put into the new computers _can_ fail to work until we
swap things around to get them working.  This includes the PCI cards,
Sound, NIC, and Modem.  In certain combinations, they individually will not
work properly, if at all.

Luckily, all the video now uses the dedicated AGP slot, so that one is left
out of the 'conflict equation'.   :-)
