I don't really have a lot of sympathy for cows.. not to fond of the things.
In fact one time when we were roping years ago.. we had some verys our
steers..and one stopped in the return chute. No matter what we did it
wouldn't budge and my friend and roping partner was loosing his temper..
I finally said to heck with it.. went over to my car and got out my .45.. put
it in the chute behind the steer and capped off a few rounds into the
ground.. boy did that steer move!
Kicked up a bit of dirt.. no one was hurt.. cut off Steve's tempter before
he really nailed that steer.. and the worst of it was some ringing ears..
Sonny didn't really care.. Rocket was NOT happy about it.. although he was
never happy about the cattle anyway.. ;)
In fact (to digress) Coffee who is a world class trail horse.. is scared of
cattle and anything to do with roping.. he WILL spook at any of this..
including hearing a rope pop when it's tossed..

The only thing to know about horses and electric fenches is that if the horse
spooks.. it can go right through the electric fench depending on the way the
fench is built.. the electric wire is the worst.
