The national sales tax sounds like a good idea, but I don't
look forward to it -- I pay 8.75 percent in state and local
sales taxes now, and even that amount is enough to raise my
blood pressure!
Question: does the national sales tax proposal include a
mechanism for adjusting the rate as consumer spending
increases and decreases? I ask because discretionary spending,
especially on big-ticket items, is affected by factors that are
mostly beyond government control.
